“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, ‘Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'” – Lewis Carroll
“Snow maiden, snow maiden, where are you going?”
I go back, to the place from whence I came.
For the sun it is warming and the wind it is blowing,
And my time is up, alas, I cannot remain.
“Snow maiden, snow maiden, where will you go?”
I will go North, to find my sisters,
And the wild frosty wind, that blows to and fro
For I miss its cold embrace and its icy whispers.
“Snow maiden, snow maiden, when will you return?”
When leaves are fallen and sun is dim
That’s when I’ll return
And scatter frost on every tree and hang snow on their every limb.
Farewell, I say, till future days,
Farewell, for I go,
With light steps and twinkling eyes,
I go to find the snow.
PS. If you saw me miss yesterday’s poem… no, you didn’t. XD But I did indeed take a little break from writing poetry as it was Saturday and I needed some rest. Writing a poem every day for thirty days straight is not easy as it looks, folks!!
