Writing/Life Update. I Have One Word. HECTIC!

The above title basically explains it all. HECTIC.

That’s what life, writing, reading, and basically EVERYTHING has been like lately!!! Now that it’s 2025 and I’m putting myself out there, engaging with the writing community, and striving to become a published author, things have become way more hectic that I could possibly imagine! Being a published author isn’t just about sitting there writing, sadly. 🙁 If only it were that simple…

There’s been a lot going on, especially since (EEEK!) it’s Chinese New Year soon!!!!! I honestly wasn’t as excited for it this year. BUT. My parents did promise to let me get any books I wanted with a budget of $40 dollars. THAT’S A LOT OF BOOKS!!!!!! So I am oh so excited about that!!!

I’ve also been doing a few author interviews lately, which is super exciting!!! I actually had the chance to do an interview with the amazing Victoria Williamson recently which you can find here. And I’m doing another author interview (a video call this time!) with Valinora Troy on January 29, 2025!!!!

This past week I’ve also been doing Crazy Writing Week!!! It’s this amazing competition (sorta) where you get to engage with the community and write, write, write!!! Kinda like NaNo, except we’re split into two teams. The team who wins two categories (words written, hours written, achievements) win!!!! So things have been hectic with that. But I did manage to meet some AMAZING people (hi, Olivia, Janae Hannah, and Madison if you’re reading this!!!!), and it was just so amazing!!! This year the teams were Team Spies and Team Detectives, and I was…

But anyway, yeah. I’ve been really pushing myself in writing recently, and I’ve also been doing 2 beta read projects for fellow writers!!!

So you can see where that gets a bit hectic, right?

I mean, beta reads, my own writing, CWW, friends, math, answering emails, doing author interviews…. I’m pretty sure regular 12 year olds aren’t doing this lol. But who cares? I’ve been having a lot of fun, and I hope with CWW ending, things won’t be so hectic and I can settle down a bit.

I’ve also been waking at 8 AM recently! It’s just so amazing to be able to get up early and just do things without wasting away the day!!! I used to get up at six but uhhhh… that has proven to be IMPOSSIBLE in winter. So I’ll try and get back to waking up at six when the cold fades away and spring comes to claim the day!!!

And yes, that rhymed. I’m not much of a poet, but I have been dabbling a bit with free verse in my diary that I hope to publish here someday!
