Hello, hello all! ^^ I, unfortunately, have not been writing that much recently and have totally not been avoiding writing completely. Izzy disapproves immensely of this act, so I hope to perhaps take a teensy break for the next few weeks before either picking up Island Keepers or writing the first draft of an odd book about foxes that may be far too similar to the Warriors series.
Anywho, this post was inspired by Always Ava’s post where she shared her favorite Emma M. Lion quotes! Emma M. Lion is truly a marvelous book (and has countless fantastic quotes), and I decided, “Why not make a post where I share all my favorite book quotes ever??”
Hence this post.
Do feel free to share some of your own bookish quotes in the comments down below and let me know what you think of mine! :)) Now onto me bombarding y’all with quotes…..
“Take your history, understand where you came from, and who you are — then find your own story. Create the story of who you are yet to be.” – When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller
i simply adore Tae Keller’s When You Trap a Tiger, which is such a beautiful, magical, moving middle-grade book! (Her book, Jennifer Chan is Not Alone is wonderful as well!) And this is one of my favorite quotes from that book. It comes from the tiger spirit during the climax of this story, and when she said that… Well, let us just say it was one of the (many) quotes in this book that made me shed quite a few tears. I truly related to this quote so much, and it was one of the quotes of this book that really made me feel seen.
“Let the true dreamer wake.” – The Book of Stolen Dreams by David Farr
Truly, this must be one of the most memorable quotes I’ve read. I LOVE The Book of Stolen Dreams, and it’s such a whimsical (yet deep and real at the same time!) middle-grade fantasy with soooo many amazing elements — evil presidents, magic books, dreams, a corrupted government, etc. This is one of the quotes from the book, and well…. if you know what this means, you know. ;D
“…when you live from your heart it’s impossible to ever tell a lie.” – The Last Bear by Hannah Gold
Another one of my favorite quotes from The Last Bear!! I only just knocked The Last Bear off my TBR, and it is such a beautiful middle-grade book!! It’s so heartwarming, especially April and Bear’s friendship (not that I or the author would ever recommend trying to actually befriend a polar bear in real life!), and this is just one of my favorite quotes!!
“Bluebells may not spring up underneath your footsteps, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do a great deal of good in the world if you choose to.” – Wicked Marigold by Caroline Carlson
Is it worrying if I burst out in laughter at the very mention of a book? I do believe Wicked Marigold is one of those books and it is a middle-grade fantasy that is absolutely chock-full of humor and jokes!!! But this is one of the quotes that I found while re-reading this book, and I love it! While it makes more sense if you’ve read the book and therefore know what the MC is struggling with, it’s one of the quotes that spoke to me and warmed my heart! ^^
Er… though Torville (the character who said this) did follow this up with “– or a great deal of wickedness if you prefer.”
Well, he is meant to be a “wicked” wizard after all. (shrug)
“The idea that one could live in a world where a friend would invite you to go read in another’s library feels more dream than reality. It bodes well for my life’s prospects.” – The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion Volume 6 by Beth Brower
Emma M. Lion is simply one of the best series ever. EVER, I tell thee! (And I know we have quite a few Emma M. Lion fans lurking around this blog. XD Tis really wonderful to see all of you here!!) I honestly have so many quotes from Emma M. Lion I love, and I have yet to write a post where I gather all my favorite ones, but this is one of those quotes I quite liked!!! And oh my stars does it speak to the bookworm in me…
“Danger? What danger? Believe me I’ve seen danger full in the face in my time.” – The Book of Stolen Dreams by David Farr
Mitzieeee!!!!!!!!!!!! I simply adore her character!!!! And I firmly believe we need more characters like Mitzie. She is this very no-nonsense old lady from The Book of Stolen Dreams with so much humor and just… she is incredible to read!!!!!!!!!! This is one of her quotes!
“Everybody have good and bad in them. But sometimes they so focused on sad, scary stories in life that they forget the good. When that happen, you don’t tell them they are bad. That only make it worse. You remind them of the good.” – When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller
Ahhh, Halmoni!!!!!!!! She is another one of those characters that we need more of, both in books, and real life! This is another one of my favorite quotes from When You Trap a Tiger! And as someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety (and honestly, still is), I can personally vouch that this is very much true…
“But I believe in me. When you believe, that is you being brave. Sometime, believing is the bravest thing of all.” – When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller
Another Halmoni quote!! ^^ And I agree with her a lot on this. I write middle-grade, and so I try my hardest to have my stories centered around hope. But writing about hope is not easy, and I know for a fact that believing in hope is not easy either — especially when life is knocking you down so hard you just want to give up. And so I just really loved this quote!
“Being brave means going up to people and saying, “Here’s what I believe. I trust you,” he said. Trust is the scariest thing to give but it is the most powerful.” – Jennifer Chan is Not Alone by Tae Keller
(This is the last quote from Tae Keller, I swear!!!)
Jennifer Chan is Not Alone is one of my favorite middle-grade books of all time, and the themes and characters in this book are absolutely incredible!! This is only one of the quotes I love from this book, and if I remember correctly, it was Jennifer’s dad who said this, and it is one of my favorite quotes from the book!
“I am a girl who sees invisible things, but I am not invisible.” – When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller
(So…. that wasn’t the last quote from Tae Keller. *grins sheepishly* I am a huge fan of this author soooo)
This is the very last sentence of When You Trap a Tiger, and truly, by this point I was crying so much that I need tissues. Lots of them. This last line reflects the first line of this book, and I won’t share any spoilers, but just reading this last line after seeing the journey and growth that Lily (the MC) has gone on… Tis heartbreaking and heartwarming in a most beautiful way!!!
Ah, yes, and before I go, Izzy and Charlotte would like me to share their favorite book quote from Percy Jackson (and that reminds me, any fellow PJO fans here??)
“With great power… comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later.” – The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
Izzy: (nods sharply) Very very true!!! I agree wholeheartedly.
Charlotte: (nod-nod) BRILLIANT WORDS!!! Most true indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Napping is great. Wonderful!!! EVERYONE SHOULD NAP!!!! …Now I think I’m going to take another nap….
Me: As you can see, the pandas agree wholeheartedly with this. I was a HUGE Percy Jackson fan when I was younger (It was one of the books that got me into reading!!), and it is so full of humor and chaos and I love it! Its sequel, Heroes of Olympus, is quite good as well, though I despise The Trials of Apollo and absolutely refuse to acknowledge the death of a certain character. In my own imagination, he is still well and alive and was not killed off by Caligula. (Really, Rick Riordan, why did you have to kill him off???? *sob*)

*waves up at the book quotes above* There you have it, folks! All my favorite book quotes!! Well… not all (trust me, I have a lot more quotes), but those are some of my favorite quotes from middle-grade books! ^^ Let me know what you thought (and also if there’s anything you’d like to see me post! I have been struggling to come up with what to post recently, I fear) and feel free to share some of your own bookish quotes down below!
Till next time, and may you all have a week full of quoteworthy middle-grade books,
-Isabelle
