WE MOVED!!! (and a look at my new writing setup!)

Hello, all! ^^ How have you all been doing? It’s Friday (EDIT: it’s not Friday anymore, as I’m publishing this thing), as I’m writing this thing, and it’s a cool, rainy morning which makes it perfect for writing! (Or rather, writing blog posts because I’m currently avoiding Island Keepers like it is the plague). The last few weeks have just been a blur of chaos — bags and boxes and bags and boxes and even more bags and boxes being moved to our apartment, and it’s just been absolute chaos. (And we leave for Thailand in two weeks! Which means somehow, we need to clear up this mess in our new apartment before we leave!!!)

But we have finally (sort of) settled into our apartment, and I cleared out a corner of the room to be my writing desk. 🙂 It’s honestly not as bad as I thought it would be, and I found some space on the shelf to place some of my favorite books! Fuzzy Bee has made a little home for herself on top of the books, and Izzy has merely been lounging on the desk, sofa, and whatever flat (or not-so-flat) surface she can find.

And so, after quite a bit of fumbling around, dropping books, bursting into the living room to shout, “I NEED A BOOKEND MY BOOKS ARE FALLING HELP!!!” (luckily my dad has lots of bookends), and us having to move some books off the shelves because the shelves were sagging a lot… I got my little writing corner set up!

Sorry the picture’s this blurry, but there you go! ^^ A picture of my current writing setup! What do you guys think? On the shelf, I have all of my favorite books (plus my books), Fuzzy Bee snoozing on top of the books, a bunch of notebooks, this teeeeeny tiny treehouse that my friend gave me a few years ago that was agonizing to build, a scented candle, and of course, Izzy is flopped by my keyboard.

I really love this writing setup, and it’s ever so sad I’ll be leaving this in two weeks after just setting it up due to a family trip to Thailand… but we shall be back in January (I think), and I’ll likely be able to work on a couple more things in this writing space (like clearing up the second shelf which I have purposely left out of this photo).

In the meantime, do share what your own writing space is like in the comments below! I’d love to hear what yours looks like! (And also if you like mine!) And till I see you next time, here’s a middle-grade book recommendation for you: Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell — it’s a fantastic, heartwarming, MG historical fiction and I adored every moment of reading it! Full review of it coming on Monday.

Till next time! And here’s to a weekend full of writing (or perhaps a break from writing, if needed)!

Hi! My name is Isabelle Knight, and I'm the young writer and middle-grade author of the Enchantria series! I love writing (though the writing process is usually both magical and maddening) and have been writing since I was ten. When I'm not writing about eerie shadows, daring heroines, and magic, I'm usually stuck with my nose in a book, drawing, or playing the ukulele or tin whistle.

  1. Your new writing corner looks great, Isabel – and so tidy!! I won’t be sharing mine… Glad you have finally unpacked. Moving is always difficult, but great to get it done! Enjoy your trip to Thailand!

    • Thanks, Valinora!! Ha, it only looks this tidy because I just moved in…………….. Give it three months and it will be an absolute mess.

Haha! Well, I suppose messiness is a part of being a writer. And I agree. Moving has definitely been hard. And thanks!! I’m really excited for the trip to Thailand!

  2. Glad to see things are going well since moving (: Your writing space is so cozy and cute. My writing space, since also moving has consisted of my bed, cause I have no space for a desk… Someday my back will probably regret this, but for now it works.
