Oddly Specific Things I Love In Books Tag

Hello, all! ^^ How are we doing today?? Things have been so crazy on my end, but I decided I might come back to my poor blog which I’ve sort of abandoned again, and do this thing that looks like fun! A book tag!

But first off, a happy autumn to you all! ^^ Summer is finally over here (sort of. We still do get brief heat waves), and while the leaves are not turning gold and yellow and orange yet, the air is ever so much cooler, and I cannot wait for the cozy season! We also have a kind of flower here that blooms in autumn, and it smells heavenly!

Now onto the book tag.

I’ll be upfront with y’all.

I have never done a book tag before.

I’ve never ever wished to do a book tag before.

But because my dear friend, Journey Bloomfield, tagged me (thank you so much, Journey Bloomfield, for tagging me!), I can’t resist, and so I will be sharing some of my own “Oddly Specific Things I Love In Books!”

This tag was first created by Story Blossoms (Iona’s blog is fantastic if you’re looking for some clean, Christian reads), and this is The List of Things to Do In This Tag:

The List of Things to Do In This Tag*

  1. Link back to who tagged you.
  2. Share the Graphic below on your blog
  3. Share the List of Things to do In This Tag on your post.
  4. Share a detail you love about the season of summer into fall.
  5. List at least 7 random/ specific things YOU love to read about in books, big or small.
  6. Tag 7 people who would enjoy taking part/whose answers you are curious to read!

Now that that’s out of the way, onto my answers which are probably going to be super, super weird..

*because “rules” can sound so stiff

1. Main Characters Who Are Hilarious, Sarcastic, and Don’t Care What Others Think (but still have a lot of depth to them)

There’s a reason I ADORE characters like Nimona and Wednesday Addams (from the Netflix version of The Addams Family). I just love main characters who are hilarious and sarcastic and don’t care what others think, and they always make me laugh and root for them!

2. Marketplaces

I simply adore marketplaces in books!!! And by marketplace, I mean the kind of marketplace that’s full of hustle and bustle, with stalls and tents lining the streets, selling a great assortment of things, with spices and lanterns and music! I love writing them as well!

3. High Fantasy Magic Systems That Are Just… so Well-Crafted They Feel Real

I adore these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason, I just… I just really love this for no reason.

4. The Brooding, Dark, But Also Still Kinda Nice Side Character

I probably like these characters waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. I simply cannot help it!!!!!!! I adore these characters! No clue why! But I suppose there must be SOME reason seeing as I have fallen head over heels for some of these characters before. XD

5. Cozy Fun-ness!

I adore all of my high fantasy, high-stakes adventure novels! But sometimes, I’m just looking to get away, and I love books that are cozy and fun all throughout the book, even if there are high stakes and unpredictable twists along the way!

6. Pandas in Books

This is just something I LOVE seeing in both books and movies. There are teddy bears everywhere, but what about the panda bears?!

(is totally not obsessed with pandas and has 15 stuffed pandas)

7. Writers in Books!

I’m with my friend, Journey Bloomfield, on this one! Writers need better representation in books!!!!!!!! (as do pandas). I haven’t found a lot of middle-grade books with writers who are MCs and aren’t either terrible writers of cringey fiction or writing about themselves.

(Even if the MC has writing as a sort of side project, it’s nice to see! Like Wednesday Addams!)

And now… onto the people I shall be tagging! I don’t know that many book bloggers on WordPress, so I hope I have enough!

First off, I simply must tag my good friend, Hallie Kropf @Hallie Kropf Author

Valinora Troy @Valinora Troy (I know she’s likely very busy, but if she does see this tag, I would love to see what her list of things would include if she chooses to do this!)

Carol Baldwin @Carol Baldwin Books

Kasey @The Story Sanctuary (she is a fantastic book blogger, and I love her blog, so I’d love to see her list!)

Leah Larkspur @The Ink Pot Club (because she’s a friend of mine and her blog is so cute, and I’d love to see her answers!)

Okay, so…

Turns out I don’t have enough. But I’m tagging anyway! And if you’re reading this and are a fellow blogger, then I tag YOU as well! Consider yourself tagged!

And please do share some of your own thoughts on this in the comments! I love hearing from you! Till next time,

-Isabelle

Hi! My name is Isabelle Knight, and I'm the young author/middle-grade fantasy & adventure author of the Enchantria series! I love writing (though the writing process is usually both magical and maddening) and have been writing sine I was ten. When I'm not writing about eerie shadows, daring heroines, and magic, I'm usually stuck with my nose in a book, drawing, or playing the ukulele.
