My name is Isabelle Knight. I’m an avid reader and an author. I love cats, crystals, and am a huge fan of Keeper of the Lost Cities. I strive to write and spread truth, hope, and light with my stories and inspire all my readers to look beyond the shadows of darkness, doubt, hatred, and fear that hold us down. There’s a whole lot of that in the world, and I know people say stories can’t change the world. But they can. One person at a time. That’s what I want to do. Sure, I’d love to be a bestseller and sell a million copies or win a few awards. But none of that is more important to me than staying true to my heart. And my heart is telling me to write. To spread the stories of light, hope, friendship, and magic to all of you.
I owe everything good in me to books and stories, and I hope that someday, stories – it doesn’t even have to be mine – will show you the truth. I hope that you, dear reader, will learn to look beyond the shadows. I hope that you will see the light, the hope, shining like a beacon ahead. It’s hard to find, trust me. But once you find yourself, once you listen, really listen to your heart, and trust, you’ll find it.
Looking beyond the shadows is never easy, and I know this from personal experience. But when I write and listen to my heart, I can dig deep into the surface and find something more important than treasure, gold, or a million book awards. Hope.
And… I will admit. I’ve made a ton of mistakes in my life, and a lot of them aren’t really filled with hope or light or anything of the sort. But when I write, I can find myself. To me, truth is what I believe in. To me, light is the hope that you find in the world, the true friends you have, the love you spread, and the joy of your imagination.
All that is so much more powerful than the darkness.
Evil can win battles. But it won’t win the war.
And that’s what I want to do – to inspire people to find light and look beyond the shadowed veils of fear, to find who they truly are.
I hope that someday, you will find yourself and find the light that each and every one of us have. Even all the haters out there. I forgive each and every one of them, and a lot of them have only fueled my determination to change the world for the better.
Can one nerdy, book-obsessed, twelve-year-old girl do that?
I guess we’ll see. But I know that every single word I pen down is a part of something bigger, something that can inspire change for the better. Every single one of us has something to share and contribute, even in the littlest ways.
I don’t know how many days or trips round the sun I have here on Earth. But I strive to spend each and every one of them living true to my heart and inspiring change. I know I can do it. Belief can go a long way.
I know my words will last a long time after my death. And I know that even if I don’t succeed, then I will have died trying.
This to all of you who read this. This is to everyone in the world. Those who need hope in a dark world. Remember who you are. Listen to your heart and follow it. I know there’s a lot of darkness in the world. But don’t focus on that. Focus on finding the light, your own little light, no matter how tiny.
One spark is all it takes.
This is to all of you who inspired me – Rachel Platten, Gail Carson Levine, Shannon Messenger, Tui T. Sutherland, Erin Hunter, Sky Brown, and most of all, my friends and those of you who have stood by me all this time.
My name is Isabelle Knight. And I swear by my heart that for my whole life, I shall strive to change the life for the better, to follow my heart, and inspire others to see the light and hope in the world.
My name is Isabelle Knight. I’m a bookworm, nerdy twelve-year-old girl with a hint of sarcasm, and a dreamer. And I’ll change the world.
