Meet Scrabble | in which cute fluffy comrades take over this blog again

Hello, my dear friends!! I hope you’ve all been having a splendiferous week! (And that you like the word splendiferous. Splendiferous. Tis a most lovely word. *nod nod*). June has been an odd month for me, and my first draft has been going… somewhere. I guess. XD Actually, it’s going nowhere. Ehm. Yeah. Mind-blowing, isn’t it?

But first, before we get into what the Cute Fluffy Comrades have to say, I have some really fun news!!!

I have started a Substack newsletter!!!

Actually, it was started in April, only I may or may not have forgotten to mention it here. *shuffles awkwardly* At any rate, I now have a little newsletter over on Substack! ^^ So if you decide to sign up, you shall receive a newsletter (writing updates, reading updates, and the occasional art!), a poem, as well as an article on writing (be it writing tips of questions that folks have asked me) every month!!

Oh yes, and LOTR memes every Friday, since Friday has officially been dubbed LOTR Day over on Substack. XD

So if you would like to check it out, you can now find me over at isabelleknightbooks.substack.com! It would mean so very much if you would sign up, and I sincerely hope that this newsletter is able to bring a bit of writerly joy to your life!

Now onto the post. *bows*

I hopped onto here originally hoping to share an author interview, and instead I found something else. Something that was both hilarious and mildly concerning.

Charlotte: *shouts from the other room* NO WE’RE NOT CONCERNING AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me: *stops short and glares* Charlotte, you have a– oh, good grief. HEY WHAT! CHARLOTTE! Stop throwing pillows at me!

Charlotte: It wasn’t me!!!

Me: Charlotte, if you– Oh dear me. *sighs and attempts to straighten my imaginary hat*

Anyway.

Yes, my friends.

The Cute Fluffy Comrades have taken over the blog once again. (They were, however, unsuccessful in trying to find the publish button.) But, it appears that they have something they wish to tell you (and a little mouse to introduce), so I suppose we shall have to excuse them.

Although I am most concerned about the stolen hand.

Anyway, without further ado, I present to you The Cute Fluffy Comrades of the blog.

*bows*

*exits*

Charlotte: Hello, hello, all of Isabelle’s blog readers and writers and bookwormsies!!!! Today, I, and the rest of my squad of fluffy comrades, hath taken over Isabelle’s blog once again to post… an announcement… *says this most dramatically while wiggling her panda eyebrows*

Izzy (from the back of the reading nook): Whaaa? Charlotte? How are you typing?? Is that typing I hear?? Isn’t Isabelle off catching frogs? How are you typing? Are you typing?

Charlotte: I’M TRYING TO DO A BLOGNOUNCEMENT, MAMA!!!!! As for how I’m typing… *sticks up her nose and hides something behind her back* I… have stolen… a hand. *mumbles*

Izzy:

Charlotte:

Izzy: Charlotte, what have you done?

Charlotte: I stole a hand and now it works as my minion like Thing. Anyways, we are all getting very distracted!! For today, I have come onto this blog to announce something very special. In case you don’t remember (which if you didn’t, that’s quite rude of you), our dear, dear friend Fuzzy Bee has been lost. *tear drifts down her fuzzy little face* And we have yet to find her.

Izzy: Charlotte, you stole a hand, don’t change the subject, how–

Charlotte: THIS IS ABOUT FUZZY BEE, NOT THE HAND, MAMA!!!!!!!

Izzy: *ear twitches* Oh good grief, what am I to do with this cub.

Charlotte: Anyway… *sobers* We miss our friend dearly. And we have searched high and low, only for her not to be found. Has she abandoned us? Did she fall out of Isabelle’s backpack on the plane? Unfortunately, we will never know. We mourn her and we wish her a happy bee life, wherever she may be. FUZZY BEE, OH, FUZZY BEE, YOU SHALL ALWAYS BE WITH US IN SPIRIT!!! *weeps and blows her nose into a hanky*

Izzy: Er, Charlotte, I do not wish to ruin the moment, but that was my vintage hanky.

Charlotte: Oh. *weeps more* *blows her nose into it again* *holds it out to Izzy* Here.

Izzy: …You know what? Keep it, dear. *pats Charlotte gingerly on the back* Just… Just keep it.

Charlotte: *wails into a pillow as she sobs more* FUZZY BEE WE MISS YOUUUUUU. RETURN TO UUUUUUSSSSSSS. *wails even more*

Izzy: *blinks and dabs at her eyes with the edge of the hanky* *remembers what has already been done with this hanky* *tosses it into the fire with horror* Ahem. Yes, well… We miss Fuzzy Bee dearly. She was a good friend. A good, book-ish friend. (These are not so easy to find nowadays.) She loved historical fiction and fantasy and classics. She adored the cozy novels. Our life shall never be the same without her.

Charlotte: *blows nose into Izzy’s fur* HEAR HEAR!!!

Izzy: *blinks* Did you just…

Charlotte: *wails* SHE WOULD’VE WANTED ME TO!!!!!!

Izzy: Charlotte Abigail Black, I am entirely certain Fuzzy Bee would NOT have wanted you to use your mother as handkerchief!

Charlotte: ISN’T THAT WHAT MAMAS ARE FOR?? *blows nose into Izzy’s fur once more* BESIDES. FRIENDSHIP!!!! SHE BELIEVED IN FRIENDSHIP!!!

Izzy: Mamas are not for handkerchiefs, Charlotte.

Charlotte: *blows nose a third time* WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO USE??

Izzy: Your own fur?

Charlotte: *gasps in horror* Mama, that doesn’t count as a handkerchief!

Izzy: Neither does my fur. Anyway. We mourn Fuzzy Bee and can only hope she has found a better place. But in the meantime, she would have wanted us to rejoice. She would’ve wanted us to keep reading, keep loving, and to enjoy this beautiful summer. Unfortunately, the CFC cannot function with only two members (there are three letters in it, after all!) and… *takes a deep breath* with due consideration, we have selected a new third member to take our dear friend’s place till further notice.

Charlotte: *sniffs and wipes away her tears* *wipes her paw on Izzy* Yes. After much scrounging about and meticulous interviews, we introduce to you… SCRABBLE!

*a silence in the room*

Charlotte: Scrabble?

*silence*

*snuffling sounds from behind a cushion*

Charlotte: (whispers) Scrabble, get out here!!

Scrabble: *squeaks and inches out behind the cushion* *stares at blog readers* *blinks* O – Oh. H – He – He — He–

Charlotte: SHE MEANS HELLO!

Scrabble: *squeaks and falls backwards* Charlotte, no, I can’t do this!!! i simply cannot. Not anymore!! And– OH MY BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I – Is that a – a severed… HAND?!

Charlotte: *glances at the typing hand* Yes. It’s a bit slow. Only one left hand, you see. *pats it on the hand* We still need to steal a second right one.

Scrabble: Oh. *faints*

Izzy: *sighs* Charlotte… Anyway. Do excuse our dear friend!! She’s shy and is unused to fame and fortune, you see. But she is a bookworm at heart! She enjoys… *glances down at resume* cozy fiction, most of all. And classics, of course. Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Emily of New Moon especially. She enjoys contemporary, some fantasy, as well as mystery, and would love to find a pair of glasses to wear if only there were some that suited her. She’s a brilliant little mouse, and we can only hope you shall accept her into the Cute Fluffy Comrades.

Charlotte: *sniffs and nods* Hear hear!!! Timid as she is, Scrabble has a great passion for reading and we are most glad to have her in the Cute Fluffy Comrades!!!!!

Aaand there you have it folks!!! The new members of the Cute Fluffy Comrades!!! We shall dearly miss Fuzzy Bee, but we hope that Scrabble will bring a lot of bookish joy to this blog in her stead!!

Till then, I hope that you are all having a fantastic week and a splendid summer!!! I also hope that none of y’all have been killed by zombies yet. :)) (A reference to this lovely Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag that Journey Bloomfield has pretty much doomed half of the WordPress book bloggers to. XD)

Till next time!!

About Isabelle Knight 250 Articles
Hi! My name is Isabelle Knight, and I'm the young writer and middle-grade author of the Enchantria series! I love writing (though the writing process is usually both magical and maddening) and have been writing since I was ten. When I'm not writing about eerie shadows, daring heroines, and magic, I'm usually stuck with my nose in a book, drawing, or playing the ukulele or tin whistle.
