“Writing is easy: All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead.” -Gene Fowler

I am writing this poem because I said I would
Even though I’m as inspired as a plank of dry wood.
My hand is cramping from this pen
The cat is yowling like a mad person
Except we don’t really have a cat
So what noise is that?!

I listen to the clock’s tick tock
As I stare at a rock
And now I think I’m out of ink
And I really am on the brink
Of going mad from all these rhymes
So I fear that it’s about time!
I wrote this poem because I said I would.
And now I have!
Aren’t we glad?

P.S. For those wondering how I am faring throughout this challenge, I am actually doing quite well!! The rhymes do indeed drive me a tad nuts sometimes, but it’s been great fun! Also, the reason for this poem is because I couldn’t think of what to write today, so I decided to write about that. XDD Aren’t we glad?

Hi! My name is Isabelle Knight, and I'm the young writer and middle-grade author of the Enchantria series! I love writing (though the writing process is usually both magical and maddening) and have been writing since I was ten. When I'm not writing about eerie shadows, daring heroines, and magic, I'm usually stuck with my nose in a book, drawing, or playing the ukulele or tin whistle.
